Description
From the Artist:
The “Sleeping Indian,” or Sheep Mountain, has been the view from my dinner table for 45 years.
The mountain rises above the valley like a sleeping Native American chief complete with feathered headdress.
I never get sick of looking at it.
In the fall, the sunsets can be particularly dramatic as new snow graces the Sleeping Indian.
Making it even more spectacular, the sun is heading south for the winter, making the shadows in the foreground into interesting abstract shapes.
This is the mountain that put my career on a higher pedestal when I won the Prix de West Award in 1987.
To this day, I still have some artists who jokingly pay me royalties of chocolate whenever they sell a painting of the Sleeping Indian.
