Artist story about Celebration of Fall, Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, and Grand Teton National Park:
There is a lot to celebrate when fall ignites the valley of Jackson Hole.
The vibrant hues of blazing aspen trees and cottonwoods work in perfect harmony with the blues in the mountains and river.
I took some liberties with depth in this painting because of the large geographical depicted.
The Snake River in the foreground was too far removed from the mountains behind.
So I shrunk the distance between them to make the mountains feel large and imposing, yet almost delicately sculpted.
The Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival featured this painting in 2003.
What started in the 90s as a way to get visitors to come to Jackson beyond August has exploded into one of the premiere events in Western art.
People come from all over just to soak up the art scene in Jackson and the brilliant fall colors that come with it.
This painting was on the cover of several magazines and seen in a number of others.
Potential buyers flew in from as far as the East Coast just to participate in the auction for this piece on the Town Square during the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival that year.
That is a great celebration of fall, if you ask me.
